thekush.co.uk now up-and-running
I was lucky enough a while ago to run into a band who go by the name of "The Kush". I went to one of their gigs and liked what I heard. After speaking to them, it turned out they were after a new website as they ramp up the promotional focus on themselves. I said I'd love to work with them in doing this, and as a result we started to put together a plan for how we could promote them on the web and help to build a community following for them.
It's taken a lot of planning to get it right, it's been an organic process and this flexibility has led to the result we have now. I'm pretty happy with it, but as usual, there are still thing we know we can improve, so it's an ongoing project, and probably will be for some time, but for now, phase one of the kush.co.uk is live. Design was courtesy of the talent of Louise over at the visually delectable Lairy Canary.
The site is based around a fairly heavily customised Drupal installation, which was skinned and modded to suit the requirements we had specified together. A lot fo the stuff hadn't been done in existing modules, so had to be put together on the fly, which led to some interesting results. What we ended up with was a CMS driven site with the following functionality;
- Image galleries
- Audio tracks
- Online voting
- Recommendation to firends on various social networking sites
- RSS feeds
- User community capability (through user accounts)
- News
- Blogs
- Press releases
- Biographies
- Live Show Listings
- Forums
-
Phase two is still in the planning stage, but we've got the main framework put together and the site is live. More to be added to the community at a later date, but it's not crtical yet until we get the user base built up more.
